Rising Stars: Meet Joshua “SEVENTEAAN” Anderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua “SEVENTEAAN” Anderson.

Hi Joshua, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I honestly don’t know. I didn’t like taking pictures or being in them.

Photography started for me as a base to showcase my outfits. Started off by asking my brother(s) to hold my phone and take pictures of me. Then, I began to get an eye for certain angles and how I wanted my photos captured. Then, I progressed into taking photos of them.

Then I went on YouTube and started learning the basics of ISO, Aperture, and Shutter speed. Then, it’s history from there!!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, it has its moments. I’ll get consistent work periodically, then there’s a drought.

Those moments where I want to give up, then I wouldn’t be me if I did. Those droughts are learning curves for me because I get better with the style of work that I do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My style is best described as indescribable portraiture. I want to progress in any way shape or form. I do not do or have your typical portrait style of traditional photography/videography.

Each image or film that I release to the public speaks a thousand words.

What matters most to you? Why?
What’s matters to me is that I can capture these moments with other creators, and help express emotions through photography. The look on their faces is what matters.

That joy that’s being shown when they see the work, we created is beautiful to me. I just want the world to see what a beautiful portrait with a thousand words can show.
