Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Cantore.
Hi Rachel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been active and doing sports since I was a kid. I am a former competitive gymnast and gymnastics coach. I went to school to study exercise, nutrition, and have always had interest in active living and various activities, sports, fitness, and wellness.
I moved to the Lowcountry 9 years ago, where I really began to grow my personal training career and following. After working as an independent contractor, I eventually started my own business, Fusion Fit, focusing on small-group training.
Since then, the business has grown and evolved to encompass not only SGPT/fitness and training but stand-up paddle boarding and adult gymnastics.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes! Starting and running your own business is working! Lots of troubleshooting and figuring things out as you go. I had to figure out ways to market and get the word out about my business. I was and am still very much mobile; I don’t have a brick-and-mortar; I work out from two or three locations. I’ve also had to shift gears and adjust my focus through the years; when Covid hit my entire business had to go virtual.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an entrepreneur and small business owner in the fitness, health, and wellness industry. I offer small group personal training and 1-1 training and fitness coaching, adult gymnastics school, stand-up paddle boarding, and nutrition coaching services. The adult gymnastics is very unique; I literally teach and coach adults to do gymnastics, whether they are brand new or used to do the sport. Stand-up paddle boarding is different, too; people come to me for fun+recreational purposes, fitness, or for competition and racing. I created a SUP fitness class called Paddle Fused Fitness which is also a cec-approved certification!
Any big plans?
Continuing to grow and expand my business. We hope to have a brick-and-mortar location for adult gymnastics and other services within the next 6-12 months. I have a team of trainers and coaches. Stand and Paddle will continue as a SUP school, offering SUP retreats, youth summer camps, recreational paddling options, and SUP racing opportunities!
