Rising Stars: Meet Sydney Edwards of Savannah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Edwards.

Hi Sydney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in a small, rural community about thirty minutes outside of Savannah, Georgia, where the nearest mall, bowling alley, or movie theater was equally as far away. My sister and I were always coming up with creative ways to entertain ourselves, whether it was putting on impromptu concerts at home or hosting dance parties with our parents. From an early age, I realized my true passion was for entertaining and engaging with those around me. As I’ve grown, I’ve learned that true entertainment is about forging meaningful connections and leaving a positive impact on the community around you. I began my career in the event industry about five years ago, working with a company that focused on wedding planning, floral design, and rentals. My journey into the photo booth business took an exciting turn last fall when I took over Lucille the Snappy Camper, a vintage 1950 Shasta Camper, from my aunt at Edwards Events. I find immense joy in creating fun and memorable experiences for everyone. Whether it’s a wedding, birthday celebration, or corporate event, my mission is to add a little magic and capture those unforgettable moments that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I can honestly say that my journey hasn’t been without its challenges. In fact, I don’t think any path is ever completely smooth. Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy, but I believe that God guides us down the right path for our own unique journeys. No matter what path we’re on, there will always be ups and downs. It’s all about the shoes we wear and whether we’re ready to face the climb ahead!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As I talked about earlier, Lucille the Snappy Camper is a mobile photo booth that serves Savannah, Georgia, and the surrounding areas! Lucille is a 1950 Shasta Camper that was completely remodeled into the photo booth she is today. We are a small business that specializes in making memories with family and friends! Whether it is a wedding, birthday, or corporate event, Lucille is there to make each night a memorable one. Lucille is rented out for a desired period of time, and is customized to the customers needs; all photo prints are customizable to match the theme of each event, and certain photo props can be catered to the event as well. We also have a guest book for weddings and birthdays. Two copies are printed out as soon as the pictures are taken and processed. One copy goes to the guests inside the booth, and the other copy goes inside the guest book for the guests of honor to keep at the end of the night. This way the event owner is able to always remember that special night. Even if there are space issues and we cannot bring Lucille, we do have an option for customers to be able to still have a photo booth at their event with a traditional backdrop.

I am so proud to own this camper. The look on peoples faces when they see a retro vintage camper is the highlight of each event. I love being able to provide a memento that people can remember from a special time. The timelessness of the camper is so unique; I ultimately think that is what sets me apart from others as well. Lucille has a story of her own, and I wish those walls could talk!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I aim to always be honest, fair, compassionate, and open to new experiences. When meeting new people each day, I strive to show up as the best, most authentic version of myself. I believe that for a business to truly thrive, the relationship between client and owner works best when there are no barriers in place; the customer deserves to be heard and valued. I feel that my commitment to treating people with respect and loyalty has played a significant role in the success of my business today.
