Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas McCormick.
Hi Thomas, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I always loved Halloween and would purchase home decor when I was working in a retail store. I began building a variety of props and decor with my son. This evolved to me decorating our yards for Halloween. At our last house the decorating took a huge leap to a walk through set up spanning several yards and garages. After about a decade we amassed a strong local following for our Halloween display and walk through. That is when my then co-worker Emeka Nwokeji came out with his family to see our display and turn out and we decided to see if we could make it work as a business model. Since then we have had 10 seasons including the last 5 being at our own property.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To date our biggest challenges have been Tropical Storm Debby and Hurricane Helene. Wicked South Haunted Forest is a large outdoor event. Let’s just say these two weather systems provided a clean slate for us to build some really cool new stuff!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My title is Co-Owner of Wicked South Productions. However, I have a support team that assists heavily with the business side of the operation. My specialty is the creative side of the build and design of the haunt. We challenge ourselves to grow the event each season. From small details to expansion we look for ways to wow the customers that come to our event. For our dedicated fans who return each season we want to exceed their expectations every time. No experience is ever the same. When you enter Wicked South we want you leave everything else behind and be absorbed in the Halloween experience!
