Today we’d like to introduce you to Venisha Matthews.
Hi Venisha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved having a routine of self-care.
In early 2019, I started getting into doing my own acrylics simply because I could save the extra money instead of going to a nail shop. I began to improve my skills and I was enjoying it!
I begin to take on clients and figured this is a way I can start to show my artistic skills, this was about one year prior to my enrollment in cosmetology school, so I thought why not pursue a career in something I know I’m very proficient in and also I enjoy and love doing!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
To be honest, I haven’t overcome any huge obstacles in my life. I am lucky enough to be healthy and to somehow thrive in the things I do.
I know that some obstacles will come later on both in my personal and professional life. My goals and ambitions should drive me forward, and help me overcome the obstacles on my way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a nail artist, and owner of Nail Lab, I specialize in nail care services such as overlays, acrylic nails, nail art, gel, and regular manicures and pedicure.
At this point in my career, I’m most proud of the dedication and success of my journey but the experience prepared me for an exciting career, one that I now look forward to harnessing my passion for growth, development, and strategic planning to take my foundation to higher heights as I provide value.
What sets me apart from others is that when you sit with me your not just sitting to get a service we’re going to build our rapport, you’re going to catch a vibe, and you’re going to enjoy every bit of the experience.
I love meeting new people now I’ve met so many people that I’ve created bonds with. Some prefer to just relax and that’s definitely okay I’m still going to make you feel welcome and comfortable.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Growing up, one of my favorite childhood memories was spending time with my grandmother! She taught me the value of hard work and sticking to my dreams and goals.
Those moments in my childhood might seem small but they have made hard work and stick-to-itiveness a significant part of who I am today.
