Hi Vernon J, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started making mixed tapes in college and began doing production about 8 years ago. I became professional about 5 yrs ago and started Ascend Productions. My main focus was Sync Licensing and then I began having the desire to work with other writing artist. My favorite genres are R&B, Hip Hop and Jazz..
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The main struggle I have found is getting exposure to the right people who can help move the needle, My second most challenging obstacle is getting with serious focused artists who understand the required commitment.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a music composer and producer. I write and produce music for the entertainment industry as well as the performing artist industry. My preferred genres are R&B, Hip Hop and Jazz. This is a business for young professionals. I am most proud of how much growth I have been able to display in my sound. It was enormous for me to have published my first composition and see it on the mainstream. Even when things are slow, my commitment has been unquestionable. What sets me apart is my exposure to so much music in my life allows me to find inspirations for more creations that separate themselves from the normal.
