Rising Stars: Meet Vijay Purbhe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vijay Purbhe.

Hi Vijay, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out with photography as a hobby almost 10 years ago. It is an activity that goes very well with my other passions, hiking and travel. Eventually though, I have used my pictures as a medium to tell a story or capture a moment that will bring joy to others.

Savannah in particular has been a photography pilgrimage to me. I have been coming here for 15 years and yet the charm of its renaissance architecture pulls me in over and over. Each structure here has a story to tell and transports you to another time and era.

I am also planning to work with the Savannah rotary club to help them in their mission to restore or replace the aging live oak trees at Wormsloe plantation and other places in the city.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any passion, photography needs time and commitment. And it is not always easy to take time away from your day job, your family and kids. As I was starting out, I assumed it to be my own personal commitment to be successful at my passion but the more I involved my kids and wife into taking sojourns and weaved my passion into those getaways, I realized that this is a win-win scenario and I do not have to choose between the two. Thankfully my kids have taken up an interest in my passion for outdoors and have started enjoying taking pictures with me as well.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been in the Information Technology industry for our 22 years. Currently, I work for SalesForce as the director of MuleSoft advisory services. I love what I do and that has been a key to me continuing on in this profession for over two decades. I specialize in large scale digital transformation initiatives that involve product and business strategy, customer experience, analytics and modernizing legacy platforms.

In every job that I have held over the span of my professional career, I have taken pride in how, even in a minuscule way, I may have helped make someone’s life easier by writing that piece of code or fixing that issue that would mean a better experience to our customers.

There have been many proud moments in my professional life but I value those journeys that have been the most difficult, especially during my 5 year stint as enterprise consultant and CTO for the Canada region. Those were some of the most happening years with a multitude of challenges and equally rewarding experiences that have enriched my craft.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I would love to collaborate with other photographers, artists and businesses. My Instagram handle is vijay.purbhe and I also have a Facebook business page at Vijay Purbhe Photography. Please visit these pages, follow and share your thoughts!
