Check Out Crystal Babinec’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Babinec.

Crystal, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Shift Society was built with intention- to create a more private, personal, and meaningful experience in an industry that often feels transactional.

After working in fitness, we saw firsthand how many businesses prioritized volume and profit over genuine connection. Clients were often treated like numbers, with programs repackaged and resold rather than truly personalized. We knew we wanted to create something different—something more refined, more intentional, and more human.

At the core of Shift Society is our acronym: Strength, Happiness, Integrity, Faith, and Togetherness. These aren’t just values we promote—they’re the standard we live by in every interaction and every relationship we build.

We operate in a private setting, working out of our home office and garage, which allows us to offer a level of focus, trust, and personalization that larger facilities simply can’t replicate. It creates an environment where people feel comfortable, supported, and fully seen.

What makes Shift Society truly special, though, is the relationship we have with the people we work with. We don’t view them as clients—we view them as family. There’s a mutual respect and appreciation that goes both ways. They believe in us, support us, and give back in ways that go far beyond fitness—and we pour that same level of care and commitment right back into them.

We built this from the ground up, without shortcuts. Every step forward has been earned, from our first sessions to even the small milestones—like being able to invest in heating and air after a few years. Those moments mean everything to us because they represent growth built on trust and consistency.

Shift Society isn’t about mass appeal or quick results. It’s about creating a high-touch, deeply personal experience where people can grow stronger—in body, mindset, and in life—within a community that genuinely cares.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road—far from it. There were moments when everything felt uncertain, like we were building something important without having a clear map of how to get there.

One of the hardest parts was finding a home that could also support the business we were trying to create. It wasn’t just about buying a house—it was about finding a space where our vision could actually work. Every option came with trade-offs, and the pressure to make the “right” decision felt overwhelming, because it wasn’t just about where we would live—it was about our future.

At the same time, I was stepping into a role I had no experience in. I had never built a business before, yet suddenly I was responsible for all of it—the planning, the logistics, the behind-the-scenes work that no one really sees. I was constantly figuring things out as I went, often questioning myself, wondering if I was doing enough or doing it right.

All of this was happening while I was raising two children who still needed my time, energy, and attention every single day. There wasn’t an option to pause or step back. I had to show up for them while also carrying the weight of building something from the ground up.

My husband is an incredible coach—the best I know—but he had no desire to be involved in the business side of things. That meant the responsibility fell entirely on me. There were times I felt stretched thin, trying to hold everything together, but I also knew how much this dream mattered for our family.

Looking back, it wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t perfect—but it forced me to grow in ways I never expected. It taught me resilience, how to trust myself, and how to keep moving forward even when things felt overwhelming and uncertain.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What we do is deeply personal to us—we’ve built a coaching business centered around helping people become stronger, healthier, and more confident in a way that actually fits into real life.

My husband is the coach at the core of it all. He has a natural ability to connect with people, meet them where they are, and push them to become the best version of themselves. What he does goes far beyond workouts—he builds trust, accountability, and belief in people, often before they’re able to see it in themselves. That’s what he’s known for.

My role has been building everything behind the scenes that allows that impact to happen. From creating the foundation of the business to managing the day-to-day operations, I’ve had to learn how to take an idea and turn it into something real. Over time, I’ve also become deeply focused on the client experience—making sure every person who walks into our world feels supported, valued, and truly seen.

What we specialize in is not just fitness, but real, lasting transformation—physically and mentally. We’re not interested in quick fixes. We’re focused on building habits, confidence, and a lifestyle that people can sustain long after they leave a session.

What I’m most proud of is how we’ve built this. We’ve both worked in gyms where people were treated like transactions—where the focus was on numbers, sales, and how much money could be made. We knew we wanted something different.

That’s what truly sets us apart.

We don’t see the people we work with as clients—we see them as family. We take the time to know them, support them through real life, and celebrate their wins both inside and outside the gym. Our goal isn’t just to train someone—it’s to create an environment where people feel like they belong.

We built this from the ground up during a season of life that was already full—raising two children, navigating uncertainty, and figuring everything out as we went. There was no blueprint, just a strong belief that we could create something better.

And because of that, what we’ve built isn’t just a business—it’s a community, rooted in trust, care, and genuine connection.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
If I had to choose one quality that’s been most important to my success, it would be resilience—but not just resilience on its own. It’s been a combination of resilience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to people, all grounded in a strong belief in what we’re building.

There have been so many moments where things felt uncertain—stepping into building a business with no experience, trying to create a home that could also support our vision, and balancing all of it while raising two children. I didn’t always have the answers, and there were times I questioned myself.

But I kept showing up.

I learned to adapt quickly, to figure things out as I went, and to trust that even if I didn’t know everything yet, I was capable of learning. At the same time, I stayed deeply committed to the people we serve. From the beginning, it was never just about building a business—it was about creating something meaningful, where people feel valued, supported, and like they truly belong.

That combination—continuing to move forward no matter how difficult things felt, being willing to grow and adjust, and never losing sight of why we started—has made all the difference.

It’s not just what helped me succeed, it’s what shaped the entire foundation of what we’ve built.
