Daily Inspiration: Meet Lisa Linen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Linen.

Hi Lisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Linen’s Cakes & Catering and Divine Elegance was built on FAITH and DETERMINATION. These two concepts is a VSION that God gave to me almost 30 years ago.

Born in a family of EXCELLENT Cooks and Gifted Bakers who loved to feed people. I can remember me being 4 years old baking with my Grandmother Janie. She loved teaching the Grandchildren the family recipes. It was her enthusiasm and joy that she illustrated while creating great dishes and desserts that has been with me for 51 years.

I always told myself that I would one day be the Owner of a Catering Company. I would open a restaurant that would allow people of the community to experience Fine Dining at a low cost. Train and Develop employees to one day be their “OWN BOSS” in the Restaurant Industry.

Divorcee, Single Mother of 4, since 2006. This was totally a different spin on my life plans. I was not prepared to be a Single Parent. It was NOT EASY! I can remember me having to work 3 jobs just to substantiate a decent income to provide for my family. I reflect back on months when I would only get 3 hours of sleep between jobs. My mother was a huge help during these years of hard work and persistence. Having the responsibility of making sure that my children would have all of their needs, encouraged me to manifest my God Given Gift, Working in the Restaurant Corporate world as a Corporate Trainer for 10 years, Restaurant Human Resources Manager for 8 years, Restaurant General Manager for 7 years helped me to obtain the knowledge and wisdom that I needed to be a Business Owner. 2009 I decided to start Linen’s Cakes and Catering. An Event Catering Company that provides food, desserts, and drinks for all occasions. I would work my business as I continue to work a full time Corporate job. I did this style of “providing” for 6 years.

In 2015, I took a leap of Faith and resigned from being a Restaurant General Manager to being a FULL TIME Entrepreneur. That only lasted for 1.5 years and had to return to Corporate Management. Continued working as a General Manager for 1.5 years. Resigned again to work as a FULL TIME ENTREPRENEUR. Well, that only last for a year. Went back to work as a Restaurant General Manager for 1 solid year. Resigned again in 2019 and has NOT RETURNED to the Corporate Life.

In 2017, I incorporated the concept of Divine Elegance LLC under the umbrella of Linen’s Cakes and Catering. Divine Elegance is the Dessert Division and Corporate Catering Concept that specializes in Gourmet Desserts and Dessert Bars, Customized Charcuterie Displays, and Corporate Brunches and Lunches.

Since 2019, I have NOT looked back and I am enjoying this journey of freedom! I’m currently offering National Management ServSafe Classes and Testing as a Certified Instructor Proctor. I am also a Board Member of the elite Non-Profit Organization, Pink Huddle Inc. that teaches life skills to girls from ages 4 to 17. I am a Minister of Faith that is actively a member of Agape Worship Center of Statesboro, Ga. Where my sole responsibility is to win souls to the Kingdom of God under the leadership of Pastor Donald Chavers Jr. I dare not to mention that it was under his teachings that my FAITH increased, Trusting in God maximized, and my strength flourished.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

Known for Elegant displays of foods and desserts. Elegant creativity of Dessert Displays.
Known for Customized Charcuterie Boards, Grazing Tables, and Unique Lunch Boxes.

Most proud of how I am continuing to walk by Faith and not by Sight. How my community has embraced my Gift with the massive support of patronage.

My love for my family, My integrity, my style, my creativity, my desire, my boldness, my sincerity, my consistency, my encouragement to others, my community involvement, my strength, and MY FAITH sets me apart from others in this industry.
