Today we’d like to introduce you to MICHAEL MORRIS.
Hi MICHAEL, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been involved with firearms and training for over 17 years, and what started as a personal interest quickly grew into a lifelong passion and profession. Early on, I focused on building a strong foundation in safety, discipline, and responsibility, which led me to pursue formal training and certifications across multiple areas of instruction and use.
Over the years, I’ve gained experience in both practical and instructional settings, including working with state programs and maintaining professional certifications. That experience helped shape not only my skill set but also my approach—emphasizing that firearms are tools and that safety, education, and proper handling always come first.
That foundation is what led to the creation of M&B Guns & Ammo LLC. What started as a small operation has grown into a business that provides reliable services, quality products, and responsible training to the community. My goal has always been to make firearms education approachable, practical, and grounded in real-world experience.
Today, I continue to build on that mission—helping others learn, stay safe, and become confident, responsible firearm owners, while growing the business and expanding what we offer.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road—but that’s part of building anything meaningful.
One of the biggest challenges has been the level of time and commitment required behind the scenes. I’ve put in hundreds, if not thousands, of hours into training, earning certifications, and maintaining them year after year. This isn’t an industry where you can take shortcuts—everything has to be done the right way, and that takes time, discipline, and consistency.
On top of that, building a business from the ground up comes with its own challenges—licensing, compliance, and earning the community’s trust. As a Federal Firearms License holder, we operate under both state and federal regulations, which require regular inspections and strict compliance. We’ve maintained full compliance throughout, which is something I take a lot of pride in because it reflects the standards we hold ourselves to.
Another challenge has been the industry itself. The firearms industry has changed quite a bit over the years, and not always for the better. There’s a lot more misinformation, shortcuts, and rushed processes than there used to be. For me, that’s been a challenge because I’ve always believed in doing things the right way—taking the time to properly educate, train, and make sure people truly understand what they’re doing.
There have also been the normal ups and downs that come with running a small business—balancing time, resources, and growth—but I’ve always focused on doing things the right way rather than rushing the process.
Looking back, those challenges were necessary. They helped shape my experience, reinforced my standards, and ultimately made me better at what I do today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At M&B Guns & Ammo, what I do goes beyond just providing products or services—I focus heavily on education, training, and helping people become safe, confident, and responsible firearm owners.
I specialize in working with individuals at all experience levels, from first-time firearm owners to more advanced students looking to build on their skills. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to train thousands of students, including youth, teens, adults, and seniors, in both classroom settings and hands-on environments. My training ranges from basic firearm safety and fundamentals to more advanced instruction.
I hold multiple professional certifications, including NRA Instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer, as well as USCCA Certified Firearms Instructor. I have also earned NRA Distinguished Expert ratings in pistol, rifle, and shotgun. Additionally, I’ve documented long-range shooting experience, including shots at mile distances, which further reinforces my technical background and understanding of advanced marksmanship.
These certifications and experiences cover a wide range of disciplines, including pistol, rifle, shotgun, home firearm safety, concealed carry, and personal protection both inside and outside the home. I’ve also dedicated hundreds—if not thousands—of hours to ongoing training and maintaining those certifications to ensure I’m always providing current, accurate, and responsible instruction.
What I’m most proud of is the impact that training has on people. Watching someone come in unsure or even nervous, and seeing them leave confident, knowledgeable, and safe—that’s what matters most to me. It’s not just about teaching skills, it’s about building understanding and responsibility.
What sets me apart is my approach. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method. Every person learns differently, and I take the time to meet people where they are, adjust my instruction style, and make sure they truly understand—not just go through the motions. I also bring years of real-world experience into everything I do, including previously owning and operating firearms stores and working in areas such as private investigations, bail enforcement, and fugitive recovery. That experience allows me to teach in a practical, realistic, and grounded way, with real-world application.
M&B Guns & Ammo wouldn’t be what it is today without my wife, Rebecca Morris. She has been a driving force and inspiration in building this business, and her support and vision helped turn what I’ve done over the years into something we could grow together and share with our community.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to provide a place where people can learn the right way, feel comfortable asking questions, and walk away better prepared and more confident than when they started.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is growing up outdoors. My family was big on hunting and fishing, so from a young age, I was always outside, learning and being part of that lifestyle.
My parents and grandparents taught me the fundamentals early on—especially when it came to firearm safety, responsibility, and respect. It wasn’t just something we did; it was taken seriously and taught the right way.
I remember, even as a kid, collecting spent casings and always trying to find new calibers I didn’t have yet. Looking back, that curiosity and interest really stuck with me.
Those early experiences played a big role in shaping who I am today and are a big part of why I’m so passionate about what I do now.
